Eclipse: Port Jackson Press and Angela Tandori Fine Art present an exhibition of Contemporary Photography

Between the 2nd and 30th of March 2016 Port Jackson Press and Angela Tandori Fine Art  will curate a free, interactive exhibition of new media digital prints.

From the 2nd till the 30th of March, Port Jackson Press (PJP) and Angela Tandori Fine Art  (ATFA) will host an exhibition featuring four contemporary Melbourne-based artists.  Kicking off with a conversational event led by artists Fabrice Bigot and Christopher Rimmer, Eclipse is a strident offering by first-time collaborators, PJP and ATFA of digital new media prints.  With a fixation on darkness, this exhibition seeks to disrupt how we see printmaking, photography and our surrounding city.

Eclipse will feature artists Christopher Rimmer and Fabrice Bigot from ATFA and artists Sophia Szilagyi and Pesky from PJP.  Rimmer will provide images of Luna Park - with a twist.  Bigot offers up his strangely seductive studies of suburban botanics.  Together, both artists take snaps that cloak their subject matter - evoking the kind of voyeurism reserved for photography.  “Modern Romantic” artist Szilagyi will include prints of hands, resting on her unique technique of digital manipulation.  Pesky pitches shot and edited profiles of abstracted Smith Street buildings.  The results are unnerving - like trying to see inside a closed fist.

Curated by two well-established fine art galleries, Eclipse is a free event that revels in the intersections of striking art and technology.  This group exhibition sees Rimmer, Bigot, Szilagyi and Pesky set about obscuring familiar forms - slinking through subject matter, fingers at keyboards, as they sharpen resolutions.  The public is encouraged to meet the artists and partake in talks hosted by Rimmer and Bigot on Saturday March 5 starting at 2pm until 4pm.

Eclipse will run from Tuesday the 2nd of March until Wednesday the 30th of March 2016 at Port Jackson Press Gallery, 84 Smith Street Collingwood.  Opening and artist talk will take place from 2pm till 5pm, on Saturday the 5th of March.
