Charles Blackman 'Paris Street' - ink on paper

Regular price $1,800.00

Paris Street was sketched during the Blackman family's time spent living in Paris - a time of great creative development for Charles, whose international career was well under way. Both Charles and his children were fascinated by French culture. For them the city was a cacophony of food, fashion and fun. Charles was introduced to the Rotring pen in Europe, which would became his drawing tool of choice. According to his eldest son Auguste, "Charles used to see people in the street and he had a knack for remembering them. He also used to sit and draw from the Cafe de Paris which we lived above." From the Blackman family's private collection to yours - this exquisite drawing is sure to be treasured for years to come.
