This historical etching by German artist Willy Müller-Gera, depicts the canals of Hamburg. Boats bob down the stream, the magnificent St Nicholas Church rearing in the backdrop.

Provenanced from the private collection of noted writer and scholar Ursula Hoff, this work is an example of a collectors passion for prints. In her tenure as head curator, Hoff left an indeliable impression on the National Gallery of Victorias Prints and Drawings Department, before going on to be Deputy Direction and London Advisor for the Felton Bequest.

A study of a city and its architecture, captured with plentiful European romance, ‘Steckelhörnfleet [St Nicholas Church, Hamburg]’ is a stirring find for collectors of European prints.
