From one of Australia's esteemed artists, this original screenprint evokes the dynamism of the ocean. In a swirl of colour and shape, it calls forth the water's force, while evading literalness. This ability to suspend allusion and subject is core to Rankin's talent. Inspired by Eastern and Indigenous philosophies, his work unearths the metaphysical in the physical.

Rankin is represented at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the National Gallery of Australia. He is also the subject of a monograph and in 2005-2006, was celebrated with a retrospective exhibition that toured regionally. This work will elevate collections of abstract and landscape art, as well as those interested in the meeting of spirited cultures.
