Sophia Szilagyi’s ‘This was my dream’ is an intoxicating image. It stems from a body of work about the machinations of dreams, in particular their thorny relationship with narrative. She presents a fragment - the thatching hair of a forest against a bruised sky - like a repressed memory, hazy and indeterminate. Emotion suffuses ordinary landscapes, reflecting how our mood can transform our sight.

‘This was my dream’ is a digital print, influenced by painting, film and photography. Szilagyi is a highly-renowned artist. She is the recipient of the Banyule Award for Works on Paper, and represented in the collections of Artbank, State Library of Victoria, Print Council of Australia, and the Queensland University of Technology Art Museum.

For collectors of contemporary prints and landscapes, recall ‘This was my dream’.
