Bruce Armstrong

B. 1957

Among Australia's most acclaimed sculptors, Bruce Armstrong is best-known for his monumental totemic figures which can be seen in public spaces around the country. Often hewn from massive pieces of red-gum, his birds, beasts and figures have a raw energy which assert a commanding presence and engage directly with the viewer.

Armstrong is represented in collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, and the New South Wales and Victorian state art galleries.
