Cressida Campbell (b. 1960) is among Australia’s most celebrated and collected contemporary artists. Reminiscent of figures like Margaret Olley, her work features interiors, still lifes and floral arrangements. After studying in Japan throughout the 1980s, she developed a practice which utilizes woodblock printing to make unique, hand painted images. This patient practice informs work that is akin to visual prose. Rather than mere moments of beauty, her work is a reminder of the grace of the everyday. Currently, Campbell is represented in major public collections including the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Queensland Art Gallery, as well as many private collections.
