Luke Cornish is an Australian artist who uses handmade stencils to produce powerful imagery. His rise within the contemporary art world has been meteoric. In 2012, he was the first artist to be nominated for the Archibald Prize with a portrait created entirely out of stencils. He was also a finalist in 2019.
Cornish's portrait of controversial Catholic priest Father Bob Maguire broke records for the most expensive work of art ever sold at auction for an Australian street artist. Having exhibited his work across Australia and abroad, he has earned an avid following, producing unexpected, socially-minded, playful art.
