Elizabeth Durack

Elizabeth DURACK -(b. 1915 - d. 2000)

Elizabeth Durack was an acclaimed Australian painter and illustrator from Western Australia. She is currently the most traded female Australian artist. Durack's work articulates her first hand experiences of the remoteness, mystery and harshness of station life in the northern and central areas of Western Australia, as well as her interaction with the indigenous people of the region.

Durack's work is represented nationally and internationally in collections such as the Art Gallery of NSW, the National Museum Australia and the Vatican Collection in Rome.
