Jeffrey Makin - (b. 1943) Jeffrey Makin is a renowned Australian artist best known for his mastery of the landscape style. His paintings follow an established tradition of landscape painting dating back centuries, which echoes works of great European Masters such as JMW Turner and John Constable. Makin harnesses both the delicate but also desolate form of natural vistas, expressing their beauty and also their awesome presence. These include seascapes, waterfalls and pastoral vistas. Makin often revisits notable Australian landscapes and features as have been portrayed by eminent 19th century artists including Eugene Von Guerard and Nicholas Chevalier. Locations such as the You Yangs, the Grampians and Wannon Falls form the setting for Makin’s keen ability to capture the essence of the landscape.
Makin s works have been showcased across Australia and he is represented in all national, state and most regional collections.
