John Firth-Smith is one of Australia’s leading abstract-expressionist painters. He was at the forefront the abstract-expressionist movement in the 1970s. In 1975 he was awarded the Patrick McCaughey Painting Prize.
Firth-Smith exhibits regularly both in Australia and internationally. He has also been commissioned to create major works for the Deutsche Bank, ANZ Bank, Monash Medical Centre and the Grand Hyatt Hotel. His work is held in major private and public collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, the Arts Gallery of New South Wales and TarraWarra Museum of Art.
