Shaun Gladwell is among Australia’s premier contemporary artists. Working primarily in video performance and photography, Gladwell is interested in the relationship between landscapes, movement and bodies. From graffiti clad cityscapes to the orange sublimity of the Australian desert, his scenes are as striking as they are intense - raising questions about the fraught relationship between the environment and humanity. Gladwell has exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in numerous national and international public and private collections. In 2009, he represented Australia at the 53rd Venice Biennale and that same year, travelled to Afghanistan as an official Australian War Artist.
