Auguste Blackman 'Touching' - oil on canvas

Regular price $1,250.00

When Charles Blackman painted ‘Alice in Wonderland’, he cast his increasingly blind Barbara wife as Alice. In this rendition, his son Auguste casts Charles as the White Rabbit. Together, Alice and the Rabbit meet in perfect, paternal unity. The kinship shared between the Blackman family and Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is among the richest bonds in Australian art.
