Painted in 1956, 'Dreaming Alice' is among Charles Blackman's most iconic images. Starring Lewis Carroll's Alice, the scene rings of Blackman's then wife and muse Barbara, in whom he recognised Alice. Eyes closed and blissfully unaware of the swirling world around her, Blackman's Alice is suspended weightless beside swelling flowers, a symbol of his wife's pregnancy. Caught between worlds, 'Dreaming Alice' is quintessential Blackman.
'Dreaming Alice' is signed by the artist on the front, limited in edition to 35, comprised of the finest quality museum-grade materials and accompanied by a Letter of Provenance.
