Behold the prestigious Girl and Flowers Portfolio – a suite of six limited edition screenprints. Orbiting around Charles Blackman’s most iconic motifs - girls and flowers - each work is rich with intrigue, poetry and mystery. They were printed by master printmaker Michelle Perry at Marnling Press, Sydney, and hand-signed by Blackman himself.
The opera told through these six images is not about exactitudes. Fluent in the language of emotion, each work catches a figure in contemplation, often grasping a flower. There are cameos from Blackman’s beloved Schoolgirl and Alice in Wonderland series, as well clusters of girls held in secret talks. Themes of youth, loss, longing and love fade in and out of resonance, inviting the viewer’s imagination to expand and contract.
The Girl and Flowers Portfolio is printed on Velin Arches 250 gsm paper and housed inside a slip case. It comes with a rumination on the series meaning which will interest all art lovers. For admirers of Blackman and his legacy, this collector’s opportunity is unmissable.
