"Philippa and Flowers" was sketched during the Blackman family's time spent living in Paris - a time of great creative development for Charles, whose international career was well under way. Charles was introduced to the Rotring pen in Europe, which would became his drawing tool of choice.
According to his eldest son Auguste, Philippa was one of Charles' favourite models, originally from Australia and also living in Paris. In this wistful drawing, content and wide-eyed Philippa is caught in the winds of adventure.
From the Blackman family's private collection to your family's - this exquisite drawing is sure to be treasured for years to come.
