Peter Kingston’s landscapes capture the charm and texture of life on the Australian coastline. Never straying too far from the cities he knows best, he creates tiny universes within his work, treating each as an opportunity for visual storytelling. Witty, recognizable and infinitely delightful, Kingston is driven by a deep and genuine adoration for the places and people he depicts.

The punny ‘Circular Ski’ is typical Kingston. Vividly coloured, it transforms Sydney Harbour into a skating rink, populated by spinning boats and birds. Brightly dressed people frolic at the water’s edge. There is an element of nostalgia here, working to turn the iconic landscape into a site of fantasy and whimsy.

Kingston has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1978. He is represented in most major national collections, as well as public and private international collections.
