Norman Lindsay is among Australian history’s most colourful figures. Part of a legendary family that produced five distinguished artists, his achievements were vast. From writing the childhood classic the Magic Pudding through to creating some of our most salacious and at the time, censored imagery, Lindsay’s vision was as vivacious as it was contrarian. Norman Lindsay practiced his art in Australia but imagined his characters in another time and place. Sometimes fantastical yet always sumptuous, his art continues to intrigue, standing as some Australia’s most collectible. To collect Lindsay is not just to possess a work of art, but to explore a fascinating moment in Australian art history. A national icon, Lindsay is represented in all major public collections and is the subject of continuing research, exhibition and conversation.
