Bill Meyer is a multi-disciplinary artist. Across his forty year career, he has worked with photography, sound and performance art, installation, murals, poetry and printmaking. This last medium is perhaps his most adept, having served as president of the Print Council of Australia in the 1980s.

Self-described as a wanderer, Meyer is in a constant state of reinvention, recording the changes he undergoes through art. This is prevalent in the formally inventive ‘And the earth brought forth grass and herbs yielding seed II’, dated 1975. With its title derived from Genesis II, the work evokes themes of creation, fertility and faith. Abstract and photographic elements combine to spur life, movement and memory.

A respected and well-traveled artist, Meyer’s work is represented at the British Council for Visual Arts and has received numerous grants from Australia Council. He is also represented in significant private, public and corporate collections. For collectors of late-modern art and prints, this cool and curious work will intrigue.
