John Money was a member of Melbourne’s realist school. In ‘Rose Tea Cup’, he presents a still life of a teacup, leaf and spoon. There is something strange here. At once flattened yet three-dimensional, this work is haunted with absence. Gaze upon it and you wonder who left this tea cup to cool, placed this single leaf so perfectly and looked so silently from above?

Represented in numerous public collections including at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne and Tasmania’s Queen Victoria Museum and Gallery. For collectors of prints, portraiture and realism, Money is a rewarding find.
