'Portrait of a Woman in a Hat with Pompoms and a Printed Blouse' depicts Picasso's wife and muse, Jacqueline Roque (1927-86). She inspired a number of his most celebrated female images, many of which have been translated by Picasso into the medium of print.

Limited edition graphics were an important part of Pablo Picasso’s aesthetic expression. Subject to academic studies, dedicated exhibitions, and detailed catalogues, Picasso' s prints are central to his artistic legacy. Picasso enjoyed the precision inherent in lino-cutting technique. The stark black outlines bring a psychological intensity to this iconic image. Just like the lead framework of stained glass panels in Gothic cathedrals, they emphasise the brilliancy of the surrounding colours. The complex layering of shapes and pigment demonstrates the artist’s dexterity and control of this print medium.

The original limited edition linocuts, which were produced by Picasso in 1962, change hands on the international art market for upwards of $250,000. This authorised limited edition offset lithograph, produced by the artist s estate, allows the lovers of beautiful art and connoisseurs of Picasso’s oeuvre alike to enjoy this iconic piece at a fraction of the price.
