‘Pink Lily’ is a portrait of David Rankin’s wife, Lily Brett. An author and Holocaust survivor, Rankin has been immensely inspired by his wife’s life. He has illustrated two of her books about the Holocaust and produced a series pivoted around Jewish and matrimonial themes.
Wide-eyed and world weary, Rankin’s depiction of his wife is bathed in awe at her resilience. Rankin won the Wynne Prize in 1983 and is currently represented in numerous public collections including at the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales and Queensland Art Gallery. From 2005 to 2006, a major retrospective of his work toured Australian galleries.
For collectors of prints, socially conscious art and admirers of their wives, ‘Pink Lily’ is the bloom for you.
