Brian Seidel was a highly accomplished artist. His former teacher, the acclaimed Jeffrey Smart once described Seidel’s work as “evocations of moments of rapture”. That said however, his work could also be startlingly quiet - moments of reflection struck clear.

‘Summer’ is an example of the former. In it Seidel draws a summer’s day. Windows are flung open, a chair sits vacant and outside green hills rise over the horizon, the sun sailing down them and into the house. Like the house’s lungs, the windows fill with a quiet breeze.

Seidel is represented in regional and public collections across Australia. A friend of Brain Dunlop, he is considered a significant Australian artist. For collectors of prints and studies of the human body, ‘Summer’ is a grounding find.
