Tim Storrier’s visions of the landscape are symbolic. He is interested in notions of nostalgia, exploration and identity, trekking into the outback to sleep under an indigo sky. In ‘The Skies of Arca’, he looks upward. One is reminded of being a child, outstretched on the lawn, trying to make out faces in the clotting clouds overhead. This work is slight and elegant, dappled with a distant breeze.
Storrier has been awarded the Sulman Prize twice in 1968 and 1984, the Archibald in 2012 and an Order of Australia in 1994. He is represented in most national collections and in 1989, was made a trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales. An edition of this work is represented at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.
Beautifully presented, signed and ready to hang, ‘The Skies of Arca’ will open new horizons in your collection. It suits collectors of important Australian contemporary art, as well as admirers of Storrier and minimalism.
