Warhol created this self portrait in 1986, a year before his death. This work of art has been described by art historians as having the qualities of a death mask. If so, it is in 80’s style indeed: Warhol s recognizable exaggerated wig is overlaid with a fluorescent camouflage design which was fashionable at the time. Now out of print, this is a reproduction of the work of art by Warhol in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria. Fun fact: Did you know Andy’s cats used to curl up and sleep in his drawer full of wigs?
