Hyper-Realism

Hyper-realism, synonymous with photorealism, emerged in the 1970s. So detailed that it looks real, hyper-realist art trades in the trompe l'oeil or trick of the eye. Notable artists include Chuck Close and Australian sculptor Ron Mueck, whose casts of humans look alive.
